THE ESSENTIALS

Your order budget at a glance

Add the selected item price and domestic delivery, check any applicable purchasing or optional-service charges, and budget separately for the international parcel. Mark each amount as confirmed, estimated or still unknown. Replace estimates with the actual order and parcel charges as they become available.

Item price, domestic delivery and service fees

The official fee page distinguishes item cost and Chinese domestic delivery from international freight and optional services. Purchasing charges depend on the service and source platform; standard mainstream-platform purchasing and second-hand or other services have different conditions. Do not apply a “free purchasing” headline to every possible order.

Use the breakdown below to organise your own figures. It is a planning worksheet, not a published Superbuy quotation.

CNY prices and the directory’s USD estimates

The CNY and USD references in our product directory come from a catalog snapshot. The source estimate uses CNY 7.2 per US dollar. That is a comparison reference, not a live exchange rate, a Superbuy payment rate or a promise about the amount your bank will charge.

Keep the original CNY figure beside any converted estimate. If one product is shown at CNY 180 and another at CNY 220, compare those original figures before worrying about a rounded dollar difference. At checkout, record the amount and currency actually shown by the payment provider.

If the listing has several variants, confirm which option the reference describes. A smaller accessory or a single piece may cost less than the complete set pictured. The cheapest visible figure is only useful when it represents the item you intend to order.

Worked example: purchase subtotal and total order budget

In this hypothetical example, a jacket costs CNY 240, a T-shirt CNY 80 and their combined domestic delivery is CNY 20. The purchasing subtotal is CNY 340 before other applicable service or payment charges. These illustrative amounts are used to show the calculation.

Next, suppose you set aside a CNY 300 freight allowance. Your planning total becomes CNY 640, plus any amounts still unconfirmed. If the actual parcel quote later shows CNY 360, revise the total to CNY 700. Keeping the freight line separate makes the change clear and avoids describing CNY 340 as the delivered cost.

The useful habit is to mark each line “confirmed”, “estimated” or “not checked”. A total with an unknown shipping line is an incomplete budget even when the item subtotal is exact. Do not give an unknown amount a zero just to finish the sum.

Estimate freight with your planned parcel

The official estimator accepts destination, warehouse, weight, dimensions and item category. Enter assumptions for the parcel you are considering, and save those assumptions with the result.

Our suggested comparison is to test the same basket with and without one bulky item. Ask whether adding a puffer jacket changes the packed dimensions enough to alter the freight calculation. Before items arrive, dimensions are uncertain; use the exercise to decide whether the order has enough budget flexibility, not to predict a final charge to the cent.

THE IDEA, AT A GLANCE

The three parts of an order budget

  1. 1The purchase

Selected item, quantity and domestic delivery.

  2. 2Your chosen extras

    Applicable service and inspection requests.

  3. 3The shipment

Parcel quote and other amounts to confirm.

Keep purchasing, service charges and international shipping separate, with unconfirmed amounts marked as estimates.

Optional services: purpose, scope and charging unit

Choose each optional service for a defined task: a readable label photo, a measurement or protection for a particular part. List the service beside the item or parcel it concerns so its purpose and cost remain clear.

Before confirming, note the service scope, unit and current fee. Is it charged per item, photograph, order or parcel? Does the request cover one angle or a wider inspection? Keep the confirmation so you can compare the result with what you requested.

Confirm the current charge when requesting detail photos. The official fee page’s worked example and its individual service entry show different figures, so record the price and charging unit actually confirmed for your request.

Compare baskets using the same assumptions

A lower product price can still lead to a higher complete order cost if the item needs more space, different packing or a different route. Conversely, combining orders may be convenient without being the cheapest result for every combination. Check the actual scenario.

  • Use the same destination and currency for both comparisons.
  • Include the same quantity and the exact variant you intend to buy.
  • Keep packing assumptions consistent: both retain retail boxes, or both use an agreed alternative.
  • Record whether optional inspection or packing services are included in each total.
  • Compare a complete order with a complete order; do not compare one item-only subtotal with another delivered estimate.
  • Date the comparison and replace estimates with confirmed amounts as the order progresses.

Allow for unconfirmed costs and timing

Decide how much you can spend on the complete order before choosing additional products. Leave a personally suitable margin for uncertain packing, conversion or other unconfirmed costs. There is no universal percentage that makes every parcel predictable.

For a gift or seasonal purchase, decide what you would do if the item arrived too late and whether a local replacement would fit the remaining budget. Keep that possible expense separate from the parcel estimate so a time-sensitive order does not absorb money intended for other needs.

Compare the final payment with your budget

After shipping, keep the item payments, service confirmations, parcel payment and any adjustments together. Compare them with your worksheet to find where your assumptions were inaccurate. Check the account transaction record rather than assuming a balance movement is a refund for a particular item.

For your next order, reuse the method rather than the old total. A past parcel is a useful personal reference only if you retain its contents, destination, dimensions, packing and date. Another buyer’s headline shipping figure is missing too much context to become your budget.
